When something in your home technology system is not working correctly, the fastest way to solve it is to first identify exactly what is affected. Before restarting the entire system, take a minute to narrow down the symptoms.
Try this
- Is the problem happening with one device, one room, or throughout the house?
- If the problem is video, does it affect one source such as Apple TV or cable, or every source?
- If the problem is audio, is it limited to one room or multiple audio zones?
- If the problem is internet-related, does Wi-Fi fail everywhere or only in one area?
- If Wi-Fi is not working, does a hard-wired Ethernet connection still reach the internet?
- Can you control the system from another Control4 interface, such as a second remote, touchscreen, or phone?
Try this first / Why
If the issue is clearly limited to one consumer device, a normal restart or power cycle of that device is usually the safest first step. Unplug the device from power, wait briefly, reconnect it, allow it to start completely, and test again.
Do not do this
CAUTION: Do not factory-reset Control4 equipment, managed network equipment, cameras/NVRs, receivers, or smart-home devices unless VHT or the manufacturer instructions for your exact model tell you to do so.
