Warm weather in California typically signals three activities: BBQ’s, outdoor entertainment, and mosquitos. Annoying insects aside, Valley Home Theater has a ton of ways to step up your ability to entertain guests in various outdoor spaces.
For this blog, we’ve picked out three different ways you can quickly and easily upgrade your outdoor area with technology—although if you have any suggestions on the mosquitos, we’re all ears!
1. Give your outdoor sound quality a boost with satellite speakers
You can probably picture the scene now—a hot grill with some sizzling chicken, an ice chest full of drinks (adult and otherwise), somebody wearing an embarrassing “Kiss the cook” apron, and a portable radio—or perhaps just the indoor speakers on full blast so they can reach the outside area. Admittedly, this sounds like a good time, but you can do better!
Surrounding your outdoor space, no matter what shape or terrain, with satellite speakers greatly enhances the sound quality, therefore enhancing the fun! If you’re a music aficionado, you’re definitely going to want to look into underground subwoofers to get the full effect.
Bonus: Hide your satellite speakers with planters filled with succulents!
2. Bring the theater outside with projection or installed screens
Part of the joy of going to a live baseball game is the feeling of being outdoors, seeing the grass, and soaking in the sun. There’s no reason you can’t experience this in your own backyard!
If your backyard area is forever in ‘project mode,’ you can easily set up a home theater for the game by adding a portable projector and screen. It doesn’t have to be permanent and you can change the setup as your design changes.
If your outdoor area is a little more solidified, like a covered patio, consider adding a permanent screen. Turn your backyard into your favorite outdoor bar patio! There are tons of different things we can do without outdoor televisions—put our construction (and our creativity) to the test!
3. Add automation to the mix
Serious question—what do you do when you’re holding a rack of ribs in one hand, a beer in the other, and a song comes on the radio that you don’t like? Ask for help? Set something down?
Please, the modern outdoor entertainer can change the song with a simple voice command.
Consider adding an Amazon Echo or Google Home to your outdoor setup to automate some tasks.
- Change the song
- Set a timer
- Play games with your guests
These are just a few options—the possibilities with home automation are virtually endless.
