The VHT Process

Consultation

We take pride in listening and understanding your needs. We start with an onsite consultation to discuss your goals: Are you looking for a home theater that will blow you and your guests away, or something basic? Are you an audiophile, or just looking for background music in a few rooms? How much automation are you looking for? How does our project fit in to your overall project timeline and scope?

VHT will make recommendations and we’ll advise you on how to reduce costs and maximize value. We’ll also lay out dependencies such as coordination with your electrician and other trades, and any components that may require physical engineering or carpentry to install. If your project is a retrofit to your existing home, we’ll advise you on how to minimize opening up walls and overall disruption to your home.

Proposal

We pride ourselves on responsiveness and excellent communication. Typical turn-around for a proposal is 1-3 days. Your proposal will describe A/V components by room, security, lighting, electronics, installation and programming. VHT only installs proven components that we’ve tested in the field to ensure that you have a reliable system.

Project Management

Project planning and clear communication are critical for a successful implementation. This includes coordination with you and your designer, electrician and general contractor throughout the project to understand all project dependencies and avoid problems and delays.

Prewire

Our installers take pride in their work and have the experience to get the prewire right the first time to avoid tearing up walls down the road.

Trim

For new construction projects, we return once interior walls and ceilings are painted to install the key devices in your home and prepare wiring for final integration. Our team is careful and neat throughout this process to keep your home looking pristine.

Programming & Final

For the final phase our technicians will install the electronic components, test them and program the user interfaces (remotes, touch screens, phone apps). This can be the most challenging phase of a project. Each of our programmers has deep experience and will ensure your system functions correctly and reliably.

User Training

We’ll do a final walk-through with you at the end of the project. This includes personalizing the key functions in the user interface so your favorite functions are accessible for each room, and from your mobile devices if applicable.

Support

We stand by our work. All VHT installations include a warranty on our workmanship. If the system doesn’t work as intended, we’ll take care of it for you at no charge. In addition VHT offers a-la-carte service and optional service plans to suit your needs.
