General Troubleshooting Tips

When you have a problem with your system, be sure to make note of the symptom of the problem, ie, what is it about the behavior of the system that’s not right?  For example, if you’re unable to watch a show, which device(s) are affected, cable TV only? AppleTV/streaming?  If you are having audio problems, are they happening in your surround sound room or other rooms in the house?  If your network isn’t working is the problem occurring with wifi only?  Throughout the house or only in certain rooms?  Are you able to access the internet when your laptop is plugged in to an ethernet port in the wall? 

Generally speaking, if you’re able to isolate the problem to an individual device that is not operating properly such as a cable box, receiver, zone amp, Apple TV:

·         Power cycle the equipment by unplugging the device & then plugging it back in 

·         Wait a few minutes and retry the device
